#MemberMorale | Matthew Auterson
Last week, I had the privilege to interview Matthew Auterson at Jersey Java in Haddonfield, NJ. Matt is a Business Development Manager for AnnieMac Home Mortgage and the Mervin Mortgage Team. They are a highly specialized, professional mortgage planning practice, focused on a holistic approach to your financial and mortgage planning. They are not like your typical transactional, solo Loan Officer where they don’t take the time to think about other areas of a family’s finances. Their team is CMPS Certified (Certified Mortgage Planning Specialists) and feel their job only begins the day you enter the debt and will be part of managing the most indebtedness you will likely carry in your life, alongside you or your clients. They have several strategies, and tools they have learned or can offer to assist in the overall mortgage and financial planning. With the Mervin Team, they can assist people with not just mortgage planning but with their future planning as well, like retirement and college planning. According to hud.gov, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, they are the #1 renovation lender in the tristate area, and #7 in America. When it comes to a man who loves his job, Matt is the guy who does so. Matt stated that, “He loves helping families and understanding their financial plan. If I can help relators grow their business, then I know I was doing my job.” His future goals consist of being the top producing mortgage team their market and eventually within America.
One of his favorite tools he likes to use to grow his business is using multiple social media
platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. With that being said, one tip he would like to
provide professionals is to not solely live your life on social media. Yes, social media is a great tool and people should be active, however, you have to make actual moves in real world. A big challenge he faces is balancing his busy work schedule along with his personal life. He overcomes these challenges with systems and processes that he follows every day. A book he likes to recommend to people is called The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership, by John Maxwell. It is about a powerful, definitive statements of the timeless laws you simply must follow if you want to be a great leader at home or on the job. Matt Auterson is a man who loves his job, his family, and most importantly God. It’s amazing how much you can learn from a person with a simple conversation outside a coffee shop. A quote that represents Matt’s life would be found in the Bible, Matthew 7:12. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
